The Danish drama The Guilty, which gathered points for the Audience Award, is on its way to Czech theatres under the KVIFF Distribution label. It will also appear in the official echoes of the festival called Šary Vary in Prague and Brno movie theaters during the week after the festival closes. Actor Jakob Cedergren visited Karlovy Vary to present the film.
The feature film debut of director Gustav Möller draws on a minimalist concept. The film lacks action and takes place in a single police call center, leaving a lot of room for the viewers’ imagination. The thriller’s conflict begins when the police worker Ager receives a phone call from an abducted woman. Will he able to help her quickly and strategically?
The entire film depends on the authenticity of the phone call: “To shoot a phone call live was very difficult but absolutely indispensable in order to capture the events realistically. Filming was very intense for me and I didn’t have a lot of time to rest. In any case, the connection I had with my colleague on the other end helped me a lot.”
