US directing legend Barry Levinson received Karlovy Vary’s Crystal Globe for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema at the festival’s glitzy closing ceremony on Saturday night. Also in attendance was Hollywood star Robert Pattinson, who was presented with the festival’s President’s Award; the same honour also went to the great Czech actor Jaromír Hanzlík. The Best Film prize went to Radu Jude for “I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians”; Olmo Omerzu was named Best Director for Winter Flies; the Best Documentary prize was won by Vitaly Mansky for Putin’s Witnesses; and the festival’s flagship East of the West competition was won by Elizaveta Stishova with Suleiman Mountain.
