KVIFF in Czech Cinemas

July 06, 2019, 14:06

KVIFF Distribution brings several films screened at this year’s Karlovy Vary Festival to Czech cinemas. On Monday 8 July, three Festival’s favourites will be presented in several cinemas throughout the Czech Republic in the framework of the “KVIFF in Cinemas” event – Jonah Hill’s debut Mid90s, the documentary Diego Maradona by Academy Award winning director Asifa Kapadii, and Cannes award- winning Icelandic drama A White, White Day. All the three films will also be included in regular distribution in Czech cinemas on 11, 18 and 25 July respectively.

Already screened in cinemas are the romance Yesterday, action movie Spider-Man: Far From Home and Jim Jarmusch’s zombie comedy The Dead Don't Die. Famous Czech film The Cremator in its restored version, the emotive documentary Pavarotti and the comedy Late Night, which concludes this year’s KVIFF, have their premieres on 11 July, and the Czech documentary Off Sides will be shown in cinemas a week later.

The September cinema program includes the love thriller Stitches, horror movie In Fabric, and documentary Jiří Suchý - Tackling Life with Ease. The premieres of the Slovak drama Let There Be Light – a participant in the Main Competition –, the Czech drama A Certain Kind of Silence – included in the East of West section –, and the tragicomedy Old-Timers are planned for October. The drama Adam will be distributed in December.

Some films have not yet the date of their Czech premiere fixed, but shall nonetheless be screened in Czech cinemas. These include the Cannes Palme d’Or winner Parasite, Denis Côté’s new film Ghost Town Anthology, a drama about a Mafia trial The Traitor, the unusual sadomasochistic romance Dogs Don’t Wear Pants, and the audience’s favourite System Crasher.
