At its 56th edition, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is introducing a new competition section, Proxima, which aims to be an exclusive venue for filmmakers waiting to be discovered as well as for renowned directors seeking to redefine their work. Unlike its predecessor, the East of the West competition, Proxima is open to films from the entire world.
All 12 films in competition are being shown as world premieres. The films represent the work of filmmakers from five continents, with two entrants from the Czech Republic.
