The creators of Vesper conveyed hope at the KVIFF.TV Park

July 03, 2022, 17:03

The creators of the co-production dystopia Vesper were the first guests of the Meet & Greet event, where delegations presenting the competition films will be interviewed twice a day at the KVIFF.TV Park.

The directing duo Kristina Buožytė and Bruno Samper told the host Linda Bartošová how exciting the last night’s premiere before the big audience was for them. ‘We make films that we would like to watch ourselves. We do not determine the genre from the onset – we first conceived Vesper as a fairy tale, because its story touches the subconscious of both children and adults,’ Buožytė explained.

The fourteen-year-old actress Raffiela Chapman, who portrays the title character, spoke about her passion for science fiction and shooting the physically demanding scenes: ‘There is still a piece of the character left in me, it has made me stronger and more independent.’

The trio agreed on the message of the film. ‘We wanted to convey a little hope through the dark story. The film also narrates about cooperation and helping each other. You have to use your creativity, talent and all your skills to change the reality around you,’ Buožytė summarised.
