May 29, 2023, 18:35

At a press conference, the Karlovy Vary Festival announced the names of the jury for both competition sections. American actress Patricia Clarkson, winner of the KVIFF’s Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema will be a member of the Crystal Globe Jury. "During her first visit she was very satisfied and wanted to come back to the festival. We are delighted that she has accepted a position on the main jury," said artistic director Karel Och about the actress, known, among others, from the TV Series Sharp Objects and the films Easy A, Learning to Drive and She Said.

Another member of the Main jury will be senior programmer of the Sundance Film Festival John Nein, who is also a consultant to the Locarno Film Festival for American films.

Czech cinema will be represented by director Olmo Omerzu, whose first two films premiered at the Berlinale and San Sebastian festivals, and whose third film, Winter Flies, was awarded the 2018 Karlovy Vary IFF Jury's Directing Award. His Bird Atlas also premiered in Karlovy Vary.

The remaining members of the main jury are Irish actor Barry Ward, known for The End of the F***ing World, and Dora Bouchoucha, Tunisian producer and former advisor to the Venice IFF programming team for Arab and African films.

The jury of the Proxima competition will include Šimon Šafránek, director of the feature films King Skate and Meky; Dana Linssen, Dutch film critic, publicist and curator; Marija Razgutė, Lithuanian producer; Barbara Wurm, Austrian publicist, scholar and curator; and Meng Xie, founder and director of Rediance, an international film sales, production and financing company since 2017.
