The Only Living Pickpocket in New York was chosen as this year’s closing film. Audiences also had the opportunity to see this melancholic fresco set on the streets of the American metropolis in the Small Hall. And a surprise awaited them.
“We warmly welcome you to one of the final screenings of this year’s anniversary edition. There are situations for which you can prepare in advance. And then there are situations that arise out of the blue. This is exactly one of them. I’m delighted that we unexpectedly have members of the film’s delegation here to introduce the screening with us. Part of the surprise is that the film is being introduced by someone who hasn’t seen it. But I’m really glad that the people best qualified to speak on this are here,” said presenter Viktor Palák, addressing the film’s director, Noah Segan, and actor Will Price.
“I might be a bit biased. But I’ve seen the film. And it’s brilliant,” said Segan, making the audience laugh. “Thank you to everyone who queued up. The festival is over; I’m sure you’ve seen loads of brilliant films. I hope I won’t let you down. Enjoy it."
Price then added that it was beautiful there, and with the help of an interpreter, said in Czech: “Thank you for the invitation.”
First-hand brews throughout the year.
