Friendly Movie

Synopsis

This is an evening of entertainment and artefacts curated and directed by artists Michal Pěchouček and Martin Mazanec, who also provide a live performance to go with the screening. Their company Přátelský film (Friendly Movie) presents the latest chapter on Czech videoart, seen in a cinematic context. The selection focuses on moving images based on the phenomenon of so-called camera vision. Short and long shots are characterised by the thematic line of the camera itself, as if recording images of reality – an actor, object, house, landscape, lollipop… Friendly Movie shares common traits with amateur film (independent production), experimental film (formal approaches), narrative works, and also with videoart and examples of expanded cinema (reappraisal of the fundamental characteristics of film art). The collection will include the works of Daniela Baráčková (Gumáka), Viktor Takáč (Backward), Ivo Hoš (Three Pieces), Jesper Alvaer (Fjord), Václav Magid (Camera), among others. The programme’s honorary guest is Petr Marek, co-creator of the ideas behind Friendly Movie.
