Synopsis

An ideal prologue for an evening spent at the cinema: Déjà vu, an echo of all the beginnings of films we’ve ever seen. It’s a film which isn’t a film yet, where the director plays around with the introductory screen logos of film production companies. Originally made for an installation of the same name, the film is presented as part of the series Loyal Guard: New Czech Videoart.

About the director

Alena Kotzmannová

Alena Kotzmannová (b. 1974) does photography, video installations and works with film material at the post-production stage. Photographic images and videos for her generally don’t capture a specific moment, but they provide a basis for the narration of her own fiction and stories. Works include the collection of panoramic shots Classicism (2001–4) and the conceptual series Cyclone (2004–2005). She has exhibited in Prague, New York, Berlin and Helsinki.
