Women in Temptation

Czech Films 2009-2010 2010 / Ženy v pokušení / Czech Republic 2010

Forty-year-old psychologist Helena’s marriage takes a tumble and the advice she’s been giving to her patients all this time doesn’t seem to be working. Her 20-year-old daughter Laura and eccentric mum Vilma are experiencing similar problems. But there are still worthy candidates for romantic adventure out there.... This new comedy by director Jiří Vejdělek is the lightly cynical Czech answer to "Sex and the City”.

Synopsis

Helena is forty years old and her colleagues consider her a respected authority on marital problems. One day, however, she finds herself in the very same situation as the patients who come to her seeking practical professional advice as a marriage counsellor: her husband has found a younger woman and Helena involuntarily finds herself on the threshold of a new, solitary existence. She doesn’t get much help from her family, though; her daughter Laura is struggling to avoid the pitfalls of first love, and her mother Vilma’s quirky views on life seem totally out of place. But there are still worthy candidates for romantic adventure out there – and the three heroines discover that life has a lot to offer. It just calls for courage, objectivity and a little luck.... This relationship comedy by popular director Jiří Vejdělek, who also wrote the screenplay, is the Czech answer to "Sex and the City”, with its essential dose of bitter irony.
