People of the Po Valley

Tribute to Michelangelo Antonioni 2012 / Gente del Po / Italy 0

The journey of a cargo boat travelling along the river Po from the region of Emilia-Romagna to a port on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. The film follows the boat downriver during the course of a single day, recording fragments from the lives of destitute villages along the banks of the river. The film was shot in 1943 but was not completed until 1947; part of the footage was lost during the war. This film will be screened in the Tribute to Michelangelo Antonioni I.
