Lies of Love

Tribute to Michelangelo Antonioni 2012 / L' amorosa menzogna / Italy 1948

An ironic look at the huge popularity of so-called "photo- romances,” supplements issued by a number of magazines between the 1930s and 1950s. The viewer is ushered into a studio where the stage is set for a dramatic story of love and jealousy, and we meet the main "actors” involved, mostly ordinary people off the street, whose appearance in the photo-romances turned them into stars. This film will be screened in the Tribute to Michelangelo Antonioni I.
