A Little Bit Zombie

Midnight Screenings 2012 / A Little Bit Zombie / Canada 2011

When Steve planned a weekend with his fiancée to a romantic wilderness, he certainly didn’t expect to become a zombie. But his fiancée refuses to give him up, and together they must fight against social prejudices – and a merciless zombie slayer and his lovely assistant.

A Little Bit Zombie A Little Bit Zombie

Synopsis

Casey Walker’s feature film debut shakes up the fundamental zombie film cliché that stigmatizes the undead as heartless beasts hungering for human brains: it vividly demonstrates that even an insatiable zombie can live life as a respectable citizen and husband. Naïve HR manager Steve sets out with his fiancée Tina, sister Sarah, and brother-in-law Craig for a weekend at the cottage where they will fine-tune their wedding plans. In a nearby village an epidemic of the undead has broken out, and Steve gets bitten by an infected mosquito, turning him into a zombie (but only a little bit). But not even his newly acquired cravings can prevent him from trying to behave decently. But where can he get a fresh supply of brains? Can a zombie be a vegetarian? While Steve and his intended decide how to tackle this socially inconvenient situation, Max sniffs out their trail. He’s a merciless zombie hunter with a sawed-off shotgun over his shoulder and a sexy assistant at his side.

About the director

Casey Walker

Casey Walker (b. 1975, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada) furthered his interest in filmmaking (having started out with the family camcorder) with studies in production at Confederation College and in psychology at the University of Windsor. He got his professional start as a television director, and after 11 years he has a respectable number of TV series under his belt, some of which he wrote. Desiring a proper understanding of all aspects of the production process, Walker worked as an assistant editor, assistant production designer, and props master, among other production capacities. Full of these experiences, in 2004 he began focusing exclusively on writing and directing. After the short The Morning After (2007) and the TV biography Ted Rogers: A Life in Broadcasting (2009), he debuted in features with A Little Bit Zombie.
