Unable to refuse her stepfather’s sexual advances, young Jolana retreats deeper into her inner world. Her circumstances ultimately lead her to work as a sexual escort, a situation that offers even less hope. The self-taught filmmaker completed his stylistically distinctive drama when only 18 years of age.
Young Jolana’s family life is dominated by the tension stemming from her stepfather’s open sexual advances. The girl can’t defend herself against him, preferring to escape into a world of dreams and fantasies. Avoiding any detailed psychological development, the film picks up the heroine at a later date after she begins working as an escort at a luxurious bordello. A young policeman comes to her rescue, yet the border between hope and humiliation proves just as uncertain as the connection between the heroine’s dreams and her real life. Perceiving reality in a world of illusion and glitter becomes increasingly more difficult. Add to this a tendency toward endless lethargy and it becomes virtually impossible to escape. For his feature debut, the young filmmaker hooked up with an experienced crew to give us one of the most distinctive Czech films of the past year. It rejects a traditional narrative scheme in favor of a stylistically polished look and the direct confrontation of causes and effects.

Matěj Chlupáček (b. 1994, Liberec, Czech Republic) finished his self-taught feature debut Touchless at age 18. "The best training is just doing it,” he says. Nevertheless, the film world has attracted him from childhood. Since age 14 he has been shooting commercials and music videos, one of which he shot for rapper Lipo. The director worked closely with acting coach Michal Samir while making his first feature film.
