The personnel working the restaurant car of a long-distance train are a curious sight community. The train is a substitute home for these mostly lonely people, their clients are a substitute family. They open up about their lives and declare their unconventional life philosophies in a community which forms a model of contemporary Russia.

They and the various passengers who come and go make up a model of contemporary Russia.

About the director

Svetlana Mouzychenko Zonova

Svyetlana Muzychenko Zonova, who hails from Chabarovsk, graduated from the Theatre School in Novosibirsk and in 1998 from Moscow’s VGIK film school. She is currently working for the Risk documentary film studio in Moscow. Filmography: Transformation Scene (1994), Sleepless Night (1996), Beauty, Goodness, Endearment (1999), Salt (2001).
