Imagina 2015 / oV / Czech Republic, Hungary 2014

Foggy memories of a French nightclub from the mid-20th century; glitchy stuttering electronic music by Lanuk, 2014. A video edited in real time by a leading Czech experimenter which revitalizes the voyeuristic nature of the film image.

Synopsis

Drawn from the concept of live cinema, this short film was created to accompany the music of the Lanuk project from Hungary, with hard copies manufactured by the cassette tape label Baba Vanga. Three sources are responsible for the video’s dynamism: the music, the original film stock’s patina of hidden mystery, and the director’s own creative intervention, which invariably involves “live” film editing in his artistic creations. The film’s mood draws upon a feeling of excitement as the nature of the film image is revealed, along with its fleeting chimeras.
