Synopsis

Robert Lepage (1957, Québec) vystudoval Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Québec. Od roku 1982 se věnoval divadlu jako autor, herec a výtvarník a je považován za jednoho z nejtalentovanějších současných divadelních režisérů. Hrál také ve filmu, například v Ježíši z Montrealu Denyse Arcanda. S úspěchem režíroval hry Shakespeara a Strindberga a také několik oper. Od roku 1990 do roku 1993 vykonával funkci uměleckého ředitele National Arts Centre v Ottawě. Le Confessional (Zpovědnice, 1995) je jeho první film. Po něm následoval snímek Detektor lži (Le Polygraphe, 1996), pak Go (1999).

About the director


Robert Lepage (b. 1959, Quebec) studied at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Québec. He has worked in the theatre as a writer, actor and designer since 1982, and is considered one of contemporary theatre’s most talented directors. He has also acted in films, including Denys Arcand’s Jésus de Montréal. Among others, he has directed plays by Shakespeare and Strindberg, and has enjoyed equal success in opera. He worked as artistic director of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa from 1990 to 1993. Le Confessional (1995) was his first feature. In 1996 he directed his second film, Le Polygraphe, and in 1999 another feature, Go.
