Passing Stones

Forum of Independents 2002 / Passing Stones / USA 2000

A black comedy about what happens when God, money and family get all mixed up.

Passing Stones

Synopsis

Leon is a thirty-year-old paper boy who talks to Jesus and still lives at home with his unstable mother and dope-addicted brother, Anthony. One day he receives a mysterious letter written in Polish from Henry Zabriski, a crazed customer on one of his rounds. When Henry commits suicide, Leon and Anthony go and find their estranged brother, who speaks Polish, and ask him to translate the letter. Goaded by the letter’s promise of hidden fortune buried “under a stone,” the brothers set off to find Henry’s heirs, only to discover a family just as defunct as their own. The brothers camp out in the Zabriski household and discover that the stone is actually Stone, the name of Henry’s long-dead son. A black comedy about what happens when God, money and family get all tangled up.
