I Am A Sex Addict

Forum of Independents - Competition 2005 / I Am A Sex Addict / USA 2005

An entirely autobiographical film about a man addicted to sex with prostitutes, who is unable to suppress his own addiction. Even though the hero’s problem is serious, the film itself is a hilarious comedy full of comic exhibitionism and absurdity, reminiscent of the best of Woody Allen.

I Am A Sex Addict

Synopsis

According to details provided by the filmmaker himself, the film is entirely autobiographical. Caveh Zahedi plays himself in scenes from his life, telling the story of a man who becomes addicted to sex with prostitutes and who is unable to suppress his own addiction, not even when he becomes involved in a steady relationship and gets married. He tries all kinds of ways to escape his obsessive behaviour, but without much success. It is only when he attends meetings with fellow sufferers (Sex Addicts Anonymous) that he at least finds reassurance in the fact that he is not the only one with this problem. Even though the hero’s problem is serious, the film itself is a hilarious comedy full of comic exhibitionism and absurdity, reminiscent of the best of Woody Allen.
