Highlander

Midnight Screenings 2018 / Highlander / United Kingdom, USA 1986

They come from the dawn of time, quietly traversing the centuries. They live among us, fighting and falling in love. Connor MacLeod, immortal, was born in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century. Only another immortal can kill him. He and his challenger are battling their way to a final encounter. In the end only one can remain.

Highlander

Synopsis

“No one has ever known we were among you.” Immortal warriors making their way through history to prepare for a fateful duel – this original premise quickly gave rise to several movie sequels and television series, but the pivotal work is still the first Highlander from 1986. Christopher Lambert’s seductive good looks and Sean Connery’s aristocratic charisma are now legendary, as is the central song by Queen, specially composed for the film. Lambert’s character dashes through New York in a trench coat armed with a Japanese sword, while Connery’s character dashes through the past on a beautiful steed, speaking in an implausible Spanish accent. What more could you want from the big screen? Perhaps only the diabolical Kurgan, who’s been hot on their heels for centuries. Only one can remain. Will it be Connor MacLeod?
