Synopsis
Audrius Stonys’s Antigravitation is a continuation of the new poetic cinema of the “break generation.” Silence is a common feature in all the documentaries of this school. Symbolically, it represents the silence of freedom in the wake of the uproar of independence rallies. Lithuanian-trained filmmakers had few opportunities to work with film stock during their studies and would construct stories from still images; they carried this penchant for still-photography compositions and silent images into their post-graduation oeuvre.
