Art and Theft

Imagina 2018 / Art and Theft / USA 2017

This rich collage of shots, drawn from security camera images, pop culture, political newscasts, and even medieval art, is a playful exploration of the boundaries and character of everyday narratives.

Art and Theft

Synopsis

According to one study, the average burglary takes less than eight minutes. Sara Magenheimer structures her short film based on this finding, editing it down to exactly 7 minutes and 22 seconds. Under this format she creates a rich collage drawn from security camera images, pop culture, political newscasts, and even medieval art. The result is a playful exploration of the boundaries and character of everyday narratives.
