Elegy

Imagina 2018 / Elegy / United Kingdom 2017

For 20 years the Cassini planetary probe supplied humanity with new findings on the moons and rings of Saturn. Using archive footage and staged scenes, an original lament emerged for this particular space mission that organically links unknown desolate spaces, technology, and humans’ very existence.

Synopsis

For 20 years the Cassini planetary probe supplied humanity with new findings on the moons and rings of Saturn before being guided last year into the planet’s atmosphere for controlled demolition. Dusky shots making use of both staged scenes and archive footage create an original cinematic lament for the space mission that organically links desolate unknown spaces, technology, and humans’ very existence.
