Archive of films Just Don't Think I'll Scream / Ne croyez surtout pas que je hurle
Frank Beauvais’s supremely original audiovisual diary uses filmmaking as a therapeutic device which enables the director to work his way through to the depths of his being. This isn’t a generic movie mashup, it’s an unstoppable stream of consciousness steeped in depression, but it also promises redemption and reflects a love of cinema.
Synopsis
After his relationship ended in 2016, 45-year-old Frank Beauvais found himself all alone in a small village tucked away near France's eastern border with no job and no prospects. Lost within himself and intimidated by the world around him, he found solace in the screen, watching four to five films a day. It was here that he began to work on an audiovisual diary, which he put together by editing shots of the movies he was devouring. What results is a manifestation of obsessive cinephilia, where filmmaking is used as a therapeutic device enabling the director to work his way through to the depths of his being. This isn’t a generic movie mashup, it’s an unstoppable stream of consciousness steeped in depression, but it also promises redemption and reflects a love of cinema.
