After one successful heist, the two see the neglected Yuri, a girl apparently unwanted by her parents, playing alone on a balcony in the freezing cold. They decide to take her under their wing, but this sets in motion an unexpected sequence of events that reveal a long hidden family secret. The award-winning Japanese director's multi-layered drama artfully redefines the concept of family and places empathy and responsibility for others above the moral norms of society.
