Synopsis
A four-member family is driving through a picturesque, mountainous Iranian landscape. The older brother is at the wheel, his worrisome mother is next to him, and in the rear the father with a broken leg is bickering with a young and impertinent son. But it soon becomes clear that this is no ordinary family outing … In his remarkably mature debut, Panah Panahi, son of the well-known Iranian director Jafar Panahi, shows an uncommon sense for capturing the dynamics of familial relationships, ranging from profound expressions of love to bitter arguments, from humorous moments to intensely painful ones. This road movie and vibrant portrait of one family, where laughter mixes with tears and loud music, was a success in the Directors' Fortnight section at this year’s festival in Cannes.
