Archive of films Lullaby / Cinco lobitos
Amaia has just given birth to her first daughter. She would prefer not to give up her career as a translator, but it’s not easy to balance it with her family and looking after a young child. When her partner goes away on business for seven weeks, the young woman capitulates and goes to stay with her parents in the countryside. Living together gives her a chance to get to know her mother and father from a new perspective, to understand them, and even to forgive them for a few things…
Synopsis
Stressed and in pain, Amaia returns home from the maternity ward with her partner and her parents. While the family are busy arguing about whether to order sushi or pasta, the young woman sits amidst this chaos and already senses that motherhood has turned her life upside down. She just doesn’t know yet what it all means. She doesn’t want to give up her job, but balancing work with a baby in a situation in which her partner is often away on business is exhausting. When he is forced to leave for seven weeks, Amaia capitulates and goes to stay with her parents in the countryside. Here she finds herself not just a new mother but also a daughter again, and she has the chance to get to know (and understand) her parents from a completely different perspective. A film about life for anyone who has ever been a parent.
