EO

Horizons 2022 / Hi-han / Poland, Italy 2022

Eo is a gray donkey who is freed from the circus by a legislative act. Thus begins his surreal journey through the world, as the audience observes various forms of human behavior through his eyes. A distinctive variation on Bresson’s allegorical Au hasard Balthazar and a formally liberated parable that one reviewer called the wackiest film in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis

Eo is a gray donkey who is freed from the circus by a legislative act. Thus begins his surreal journey across the world, as the audience observes various forms of human behavior through his eyes. He meets football hooligans, a jolly truck driver, and a young priest who has failed on his spiritual quest… For his distinctive variation on Bresson’s allegorical Au hasard Balthazar, legendary Polish filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski chose to collaborate with the talented young cinematographer Michał Dymek. Together, they have created a daring, formally liberated parable that one reviewer called the wackiest film in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
