Infinity Pool

Midnight Screenings 2023 / Infinity Pool / Canada, Croatia, Hungary 2022

Infinity Pool Infinity Pool

Synopsis

The latest film by Brandon Cronenberg, son of the famous Canadian master of body horror David, feels like White Lotus for twisted minds. The main protagonist, the stuck-in-a-rut author James, is vacationing at a tourist resort in a poor seaside country. There, he inadvertently causes an incident that sets in motion a series of bizarre events showing that there is no futuristic technology that rich elites won’t manage to abuse. In Infinity Pool – less horror than dark, understated sci-fi – Cronenberg has toned down his usually extravagant visuality, which only lends this cold and misanthropic satire an even greater sense of urgency.
