Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Tribute to Russell Crowe 2023 / Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World / USA 2003

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Synopsis

1805, the open sea. Napoleon is the master of Europe, and the British flotilla is the only thing standing between him and the rest of the world. Captain Jack Aubrey and the HMS Surprise are ordered to destroy the French ship Acheron, but their first encounter doesn’t go according to plan and Aubrey is forced to retreat. His uncompromising sense of duty nevertheless compels him to pursue the French at all cost, regardless of fog, storms, or the dangers of the ocean. Peter Weir’s famous film has withstood the test of time – thanks to a sensitive combination of epic story and multilayered dialogue that never loses sight of the human condition and takes us on a riveting journey into the sailor’s soul. Russell Crowe excels in one of his essential roles.
