Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Out of the Past 2023 / Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs / USA 1937

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Synopsis

The heroes of the first and, to this day, most popular feature-length film to emerge from the Walt Disney Studio – which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year – deservedly won a unique Academy Award, consisting of one full-size statuette and seven accompanying miniature Oscars. Put more precisely, the awards went to the film’s animators, who set in motion over a million drawings in such a way that each dwarf has his own distinctive character, expressed not only in diverse physical features, but also in the very manner he is brought to life. They are all presented here in richly varied pantomime; also dazzling is the choreography of poetic forest scenes inhabited by a multitude of little creatures. The flawless craft of this cartoon masterpiece draws admiration even in an era of computer animation.
