Legendary Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos shot this anthology film shortly after completing Poor Things. A young man seeking to regain control of his life; a policeman whose wife returns home after being lost at sea, except that he begins to suspect she may be somebody else; a woman tasked with finding someone with supernatural powers to become a spiritual leader. Lanthimos again confirms his reputation as a filmmaker with an eye for original stories. Jesse Plemons, Emma Stone, and Willem Dafoe appear in all three episodes of this masterfully composed and highly disturbing film about manipulation and obsession bordering on madness. The eccentric Kinds of Kindness sparkled at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it earned Plemons the Best Actor Award.
