Preemptive Listening

Imagina 2024 / Preemptive Listening / United Kingdom, Finland 2024

Preemptive Listening Preemptive Listening

Synopsis

Chile, Slovakia, New Zealand… Sarah Davachi, Moor Mother, David Toop… These are just some of the places and names from the current alternative music scene brought together in this thought-provoking documentary by the motif of the siren. What is the process of their production, what is their range of uses, and does their sound signal a call to run or a call to arms? “Some warnings cannot warn enough,” states this focused film about something which, conversely, stops us focusing. What does it mean when the sirens fall silent? And can sirens announce progressive catastrophes like the climate crisis, for instance?
