One day, a lonely Gravedigger, shunned because she stinks of dead bodies, meets the Lover – an elegant aristocrat whose sister has recently died. But their passionate relationship is short-lived. When the Lover tragically dies at sea, the Gravedigger is determined to do anything – anything! – in order to bring her lost love back to life. Canadian actor and director Grace Glowicki has succeeded in creating a stylistically unique and bizarre comic film whose absurd humor and visual style inspired by black theatre celebrate the distinctiveness of independent cinema. Dead Lover pays homage to such cult stories as Bride of Frankenstein while simultaneously updating them and stripping them of their heteronormative standards.
