A court bailiff in the Transylvanian town of Cluj is having a bad day – the eviction of a homeless man from the basement of a building ends in tragedy, and she begins to wonder, “Was it my fault?” But the people with whom she shares her burden can’t offer an easy answer. Director Radu Jude, winner at KVIFF and the Berlinale, is back with his typical dark humor, aimed straight at a contemporary society full of neglect, nationalism, faith, and shaky moral positions. Shot on a mobile phone over the course of ten days, Kontinental ’25 won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at this year’s Berlinale.
