Synopsis

In this visually expressive film that balances between action and drama, the harness worn by actors in wire-fu films becomes a metaphor for our relationship to family and to the heroes of our past. The wire is a guide that allows us to fly, but it also pulls us back to the ground over and over again. Tian Tian and Fang Di are cousins, once almost like sisters, who must reconnect in order to jointly face the past and stand up to a group of ruthless gangsters – in the hopes that one day they might end their frantic flight. The film was shown in the Competition section at this year’s Berlinale.
