Synopsis

The backdrop might remind some people of the TV news from the 1980s, while others may recall the setting of the classic horror film The Hills Have Eyes. But what we are actually seeing is an urban combat facility in West Germany being used to train British soldiers before deployment in Northern Ireland. A thought-provoking film shrouded in an atmosphere of ruination, which director Feargal Ward masterfully navigates through disturbing territory. Yet Tin City doesn’t remain in the past and, along with various mannequins, new questions emerge with every passing minute. Are similar places destined to fall into decline? What do they tell us about the historical events they help to shape? And what space, if any, should terrorists be given in a public environment?
