Ángela and Héctor are expecting their first child. Ángela is deaf, and the doctors cannot predict whether the child will be able to hear or not. Together, the couple tries to prepare for parenthood and an uncertain future, but already the birth reveals the barriers that Ángela will have to overcome. The arrival of their child tests their relationship, and she gets a taste of what it is like to raise a child in an environment where she does not always feel fully accepted. Director Eva Libertad’s award-winning debut explores not only the complicated relationship between hearing and hearing-impaired individuals, but above all the difficulties of being a mother. The main role is played by her sister, whose point of view of a character with a hearing impairment is underscored through the use of sound design.
