Synopsis

Two kilometers are an almost imperceptible distance in times of peace. But in the midst of fierce fighting for a strategically important village in eastern Ukraine, every inch counts, and suddenly those two kilometers are packed with everything – splintered trees, devastated nature, hostile worlds, despair, and above all a ruthless fight to the death. After 20 Days in Mariupol, Oscar-winning director Mstyslav Chernov again redefines the war documentary. Reporting from the frontline, he not only captures the bitter aftertaste of a Pyrrhic victory in a scorched land, but most importantly he shares haunting images of war as a nightmare from which there is no waking. 2000 Metres to Andriivka won the Directing Award: World Cinema Documentary at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
