Siblings Tom, Susan, and Derek come to visit their grandfather, who recently became a widower. They each have their own worries, and what is more, little Tom can’t get to sleep. But when Susan conjures forth amazing tales by tossing three special words into their grandmother’s old straw hat, they find that stories can be immensely powerful. Not only can they lessen your fears or sorrows, they can also bring people together and offer them hope. This feature-length, stop-motion adaptation of Arnošt Goldflam’s Of Unwanted Things and People, which has been shown at the Berlinale and Annecy festivals, among others, is a visually rich bouquet of fairy tales whose inventiveness and humanity will touch hearts great and small alike.
