Sorry, Baby is the directorial debut of actress Eva Victor, who also portrays the main character, an English professor whose quiet life in a New England university town is disrupted by a traumatic event. Told in non-chronological order, Victor’s drama avoids the clichés usually associated with depictions of trauma, taking a senstitive yet slightly humorous look at the process of personal change and recovery. Characterized by both mature acting and directing, Sorry, Baby excels thanks to the nuanced psychology of its characters. Winner of the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance and shown in the prestigious Directors’ Fortnight section at Cannes, the film is yet another confirmation of Victor’s multifaceted talents.
