Future Frames: Generation NEXT of European Cinema / Orla / Czech Republic 2025
Director Marie Lukáčová’s rap fairy tale is an unusual take on a traditional genre. You won’t find a knight on a white horse here – its main protagonist Jasna manages to save herself from the wicked ruler Volk. When Volk sends her on a journey from which she is not expected to return, Jasna – with a little bit of help – discovers his scheme in time, overcomes a test of her fear, and ultimately defeats her oppressor. This tale in three acts weaves together environmental and feminist viewpoints and visually blends the aesthetics of an autumn forest with the original use of 2D and 3D animation. As in any good fairy tale, everyone lives happily ever after.
