Horizons / Shame and Money / Germany, Kosovo, Slovenia, Albania, North Macedonia, Belgium 2026
Shaban wants to provide for his family, but the city doesn’t exactly welcome aging men from the countryside with open arms. Although he works hard at everything he does, it still is not enough. Additionally, those around him see his money-making efforts as a measure of his human dignity. How far are people willing to go, and what all can they endure when they are forced to fight for their very existence? Kosovo filmmaker Visar Morina won the Best Director Award at KVIFF in 2015 for his debut Father. Shame and Money, a surgical unmasking of materialism, earned him the Grand Jury Prize from the Sundance Film Festival.
