Synopsis

A daughter, a mother with severe dementia, and a stepfather. Who has the right to make decisions for someone who can no longer decide on their own? Directed by American filmmaker Lance Hammer, Queen at Sea lays out a clear starting situation, but everything that follows raises uncomfortable questions with no clear answers. This drama about how everyone’s good intentions are not necessarily compatible with one another won the Jury Prize at the Berlinale, where Anna Calder-Marshall and British New Wave icon Tom Courtenay, who portray the central married couple, received the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance.
