Synopsis

Walking, a time for reflection. Thomas works on a building site; his wife Carla calls him from hospital – something has happened. When she eventually tells him about it, she seems frightened of her own feelings – and Thomas withdraws into himself. In her magically ordinary film, alternating unvarnished, stark moments with exceptionally fervent episodes, Angela Schanelec captures the fragility of those decisive points during our endless navigation through the construction site of life. Like the director’s previous films, this piece is also a colourful miniature, receptive to the subtle nuances of existence. Even the quietest moments can be exhilarating.
