Horizons / Hot Water / USA 2026
“God does not count against you time spent in hot water,” says one of the characters in this heartwarming road movie. The main character, Layal, a college professor caught between different worlds, must drive her son Daniel across the entire United States to his father in order to save his high school education. Shown at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, this distinctive feature film debut sparkles with bittersweet insights, yet sticks to the rules of the genre: as its protagonists drive toward their destination, they must find their way to one another – and to themselves.
