Every family has its traditions, and some even have a family profession. For the Smiths, it is shooting B- and C-grade horror movies. They may not be the most successful works of cinema, but for parents Jack and Ellen, making a movie is the only time the whole family can get together. When a real dead body shows up on the set of their latest film project, however, horror starts to spill over into reality. Kevin Bacon as the husband and director (in the film and in real life) and Kyra Sedgwick as his wife (in the film and in real life) savor this moment of absolute cinematic freedom. A combination of all possible genres, Family Movie already made a splash during its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
