While almost the whole world is familiar with the goal of the century and Maradona’s infamous “Hand of God,” the real story behind the “match of the century” is even more dramatic. The Falklands War, national pride, political tensions, and the players’ lives all formed the backdrop to a game that inspires passionate debate to this day. Forty years later, Juan Cabral and Santiago Franco’s documentary looks back on this historic match through a combination of archival footage and interviews with former players. This fascinating story of rivalry, memory, and reconciliation reminds us why, for ninety minutes, football is capable of capturing the whole world’s attention.
