The ambitious plan to colonize Mars came to nothing after its budget was cut. All that remains on the distant planet is an abandoned outpost and a lonely robot. The robot’s philosophical meanderings are only interrupted by a Czech, privately-funded expedition, the sponsor of which would like to get married on the red planet. A 22-two-member crew flew in to Karlovy Vary to introduce the absurd comedy Mars.
The captain, director, producer and driver Benjamin Tuček first took the opportunity to thank the entire team of the Karlovy Vary film festival, which he has been visiting for the past 25 years: “Without this festival, we wouldn’t have a place to land.” He then introduced the setting of the film as “a distant future, where no one is interested in Mars, anymore, and the only visitors are Czech tourists” before letting the audience delve into the visually-attractive comedy, which was filmed at an actual station for simulating life on Mars.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
