The Myth of Fingerprints of 1997 is an extraordinary piece of work, not least because Julianne Moore and the director Bart Freundlich, the stars of the 54th KVIFF, met during its shooting as partners at work and in life. “This screening is a real treat for us, because our daughter will see it here for the first time. Moreover, the festival team found the film’s original copy in the archives, so for such a film geek as me, it is a rare occasion to watch the film in the 35 mm format”, noted Freundlich. He also recalled how he met his future wife: “I knew her previous films and I wanted desperately to cast her. When she agreed, I became nervous”.
Julianne Moore, Academy Award and Crystal Globe winner, also introduced the film, which tells about a Thanksgiving gathering of a large family. She made a compliment to the KVIFF: “We are at a beautiful theatre in a beautiful town, at a festival that celebrates film”.
